Artist Stephanie Schlatter Opens Collaborative Exhibition with
Eden Environments
Press Release
(GRAND RAPIDS, MICH)— Artist Stephanie Schlatter created a collaborative exhibition with
Eden Environments in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 2008. The projection, titled "Local Artistry Global Perceptions," was an exploration of art and architecture with local designer
Denise Hopkins of Eden Environments.
Denise brought together the talents of four local artists to interpret the world through their photography and paintings. Stephanie’s works were a series of paintings exploring Venice, Italy.
Stephanie has collaborated with Denise on several projects in recent years, including the design of Stephanie’s art studio and the 2010 Top 100 placing
ArtPrize exhibit, “Uncorked.”
Stephanie Schlatter draws inspiration from the world around her for her art. While she calls Grand Rapids, Michigan home, she often travels on new adventures across the globe.
“My journey as an artist is influenced by my travels abroad and my study of art globally,” she says. “I draw inspiration from the freedom of artistic expression in other cultures and the unfettered creativity of children around the world. I am motivated with a passion to teach and cultivate the creative learning process in others. These experiences richly enhance my own paintings, which hopefully reflect the beauty of both the people and lands I have visited.”
Stephanie has studied art both locally and abroad, including time in
Mexico where she decided to shift her focus from photography to
painting. Stephanie's travels also led her to found
Art Aid for Tesfa in 2006, the creative division of the
Tesfa Foundation, through which she brings art classes to the children of Ethiopia while supporting their education. Stephanie is a Board Member of the Tesfa Foundation.
