Artist Stephanie Schlatter Enters 19 Windows Window Design Competition
Press Release
(GRAND RAPIDS, MICH) – June 2011 – Artist Stephanie Schlatter collaborated with Architect
Denise Hopkins of
ImaginEco Design to enter “Fusion” in the second annual
19Windows Window Design Competition June 21 through 25, 2011, at
YT Galleria. The event occurred in the East Hills Business District of Grand Rapids, Michigan, involving 20-plus businesses and artists, seven judges, culminating in a daylong event that awarded four cash prices from $250 to $1,000.
As it is explained on the
19Windows website, the 19windows event is “a competition for the design and installation of original storefront windows. Artists work with business owners to design an original window display that works within the existing constraints of the storefront, and uniquely interprets the nature of the business. The competition is designed to increase collaboration between the business community and local designers/artists and showcase the role independently owned businesses play in the sustainability of urban neighborhoods.” For their exhibit, “Fusion,” Stephanie and Denise weaved together local and global cultures.
Stephanie has participated in dozens of gallery shows as a photographer and artist; however, this was her first window design competition.
