Artist Stephanie Schlatter Supports Education in Ethiopia through
Art Aid for Tesfa
(GRAND RAPIDS, MICH) – May 2007 – Artist Stephanie Schlatter formed
Art Aid for Tesfa to support educational opportunity in Ethiopia. To help provide financial support for students there, Stephanie hosted a wine tasting and art auction event at Imagerie Gallery featuring art painted by Ethiopian students.
Stephanie traveled to Ethiopia to visit Tefsa schools, where she worked directly with students to teach them about art and self expression. The students created colorful artwork, which she brought back to exhibit and offer on auction to support the school.
Stephanie also has teamed up with Cascade Winery which features the childrens’ artwork on its labels.
Cascade Winery provided the wine for the wine tasting.
Art Aid for Tesfa is a division of the
Tesfa Foundation. Tesfa provides early childhood education to disadvantaged children in Ethiopia. Art Aid teaches right-brain skills and incorporates whole-brain thinking skills in Tesfa schools. They also raise funds for the children using some of their art, giving the children a great sense of accomplishment and ownership in their education.
