Visual Artist Stephanie Schlatter to Exhibit at Kubiac Art Gallery
(GRAND RAPIDS, MICH)—July 10, 2010—Visual artist Stephanie Schlatter will be holding an exhibit at the Kubiac Art Gallery located at 48 Center Street in Douglas on Saturday, August 28th from 6-9 p.m. The exhibit "Uncorked" The Paintings is a tempting prelude to her Art Prize installation.
The large collection of vineyard-themed paintings that will be included in the exhibit is reminiscent of Schlatter's Art Prize entry, Uncorked, a fantasy space of art, design, and wine, which will be on display outside of The B.O.B. in downtown Grand Rapids starting September 19, 2010.
Ten years ago, while studying photography Schlatter developed an interest in painting. "It was just a calling that I was instantly passionate about. It came from somewhere outside of myself," said Schlatter. She has always been interested in vineyard-themed paintings, like those in the Uncorked series and it is a theme that she revisits often in her work. "I love wine country," said Schlatter.
In addition to enjoying a wine and cheese reception at the event, visitors will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win one of Schlatter's 12 x 12 paintings. Patrons will also have the opportunity to view other artists' work on display at the gallery however Shlatter's art (http://www.stephanieschlatterart.com) will be the primary focus of the event.
Stephanie Schlatter draws inspiration from the world around her for her art. While she calls Grand Rapids, Michigan home, she's often off on new adventures across the globe. She has studied art both locally and abroad, including time in Mexico where she decided to shift her focus from photography to painting. Stephanie's travels led her to found Art Aid International in 2006. Through this non-profit organization, she brings art classes to the children of Ethiopia while supporting their education.
